Spend — Your WhatsApp Cost Breakdown & Messaging Tier
Spend — Your WhatsApp Cost Breakdown
The Dashboard → Spend page is the detailed view of your WhatsApp messaging costs. Where WhatsApp Usage gives you simple monthly volumes, Spend breaks costs down by category and by campaign, shows Meta's actual charges when available, and tracks your messaging tier.
Billed by Meta, not Botaura. Every figure here is about your Meta charges. Botaura never marks up or bills for WhatsApp messages — your Botaura subscription is separate (see Plans & Pricing). Spend is most useful on plans that run WhatsApp campaigns and commerce.
Estimated Spend by Category
For the current month, your estimated spend is split by WhatsApp's billing categories:
- Marketing (broadcasts) — campaign messages; the priciest category.
- Utility (order / COD templates) — order confirmations and status updates.
- Authentication — OTP / verification messages.
- Service (free-form, in window) — replies inside the 24-hour window; free.
- Other — anything not in the above buckets.
Spend by Campaign
Each broadcast campaign's estimated cost is listed with how many messages it sent — so you can see which campaigns are worth repeating and which cost more than they returned. Pair this with campaign analytics to judge ROI.
Meta's Actual Costs
When Botaura can retrieve them, the page also shows Meta's actual delivered counts and costs per category (with the time they were fetched). These come straight from Meta and are the closest thing to your real invoice; the estimates fill in where actuals aren't available yet.
Messaging Tier & Daily Cap
WhatsApp limits how many unique customers you can message per day based on your account quality tier (e.g. 250 → 1K → 10K → 100K → unlimited). Spend shows your current tier, its daily cap, and how far you are from the next tier. Your tier rises automatically as you send quality messages that customers engage with. Campaign sending warns you if a send might exceed your cap — see Broadcast Campaigns.
Rate Card
The page also lists the per-message rates being used for the estimates, so you can see exactly what's driving the numbers.
Spend vs. WhatsApp Usage vs. Subscription
- Spend (this page) — detailed WhatsApp cost analytics: by category, by campaign, Meta actuals, and messaging tier.
- WhatsApp Usage — a simpler monthly view of message volumes, an estimate, your plan allowance, and open service windows.
- Plans & Pricing — your Botaura subscription and how to upgrade (this is the only thing Botaura actually bills you for).
Troubleshooting
- No spend data — you probably haven't connected a number or sent messages this month.
- Estimate differs from Meta — expected; Meta's actuals (and your Meta invoice) are the source of truth. Estimates use Meta's published rate card.
- My tier seems stuck — tiers rise with sustained, well-received messaging; poor quality or blocks can hold it back.
